Senior Photos

Some photos from my last semester...

Ireland Plans

Ireland...

I will be working for six weeks for Health Services of the Republic of Ireland (June 23-Aug 1). I will be staying in a four bedroom home with other workers in
Falcarragh, a seaside resort town in the northwest corner of Donegal.

It is rumored to be one of the most beautiful places in Ireland.

I will be a volunteer with a specific health program, Solas, three days a week. The other two days will be spent doing administrative work, learning more about socialized medicine in Ireland and the EU, and setting up a permanent link between SHU Law and this branch of Irish Health Services.

More information about the Solas program can be found her:
www.solasdonegal.org

I purchased a one way flight leaving June 19th. Since law school orientation is on August 21, I am trying to decide whether I should spend the last two weeks of my summer touring Europe or at home reading my books for class. That will be decided later...

Now a College Graduate...

I graduated yesterday (5/22)! The ceremony was fantastic! It's still a bit unbelievable that I'm a college graduate. I received a BE in Biomedical Engineering, a BA in History, and a minor in Gender and Cultural Studies. There was a Senior Awards Dinner the night prior to commencement and I received four awards:
  1. Clinical Engineering Services, Inc. Design Excellence Award - given to the senior who has demonstrated excellent command of the principals of Biomedical Engineering design.

  2. Julia and Frederick Bissinger Award - given to the student with the most outstanding performance in the program leading to the Bachelor of Arts Degree, including those taking degrees in another program.
  3. Women's Leadership Award - established to recognize a woman in good academic standing who served as an outstanding role model to her peers and achieved extracurricular merit through involvement in campus activities.

  4. Podolsky Award - given to the senior in good standing who, through unselfish efforts, has fostered school spirit and advanced coed involvement in campus life.

In addition, I was selected for the position of alumni Board of Trustee. The process included a petition, election within the senior class to select the top three candidates and an interview with several current trustees. I'll sit on the Board for the next two years. Pretty exciting!

New Apartment!

I moved into my new apartment on Friday (5/16). It was fantastic! The movers had me completely moved within three hours and then four of my friends came over to help put together my furniture and setup the apartment.
The apartment is in a superb Hoboken location, blocks away from restaurants and stores (approximately four blocks from Stevens campus). It has plenty of space and I really love this place because it has all sorts of antique charm. Can't wait for my roommate to move in!

Here is a picture of my claw foot bathtub. The bathroom is huge and has a stained glass window for increased privacy.

Here is a picture of my living room (still a mess). It has bay windows and what was a fireplace.

Here is a picture of the bookshelves in my room, looking toward the kitchen and living room. Above my door you'll notice stained glass (it marks both of the bedrooms). My bookshelves form a hallway into my room.

Here is a picture of my kitchen. Once again, there are bay windows in this room. It's pretty spacious.

Summer Updates!

So despite the fact that I'm theoretically against blogs - because who's life could really be that interesting? - I may need one with all the changes taking place this summer. I tell some people some things and others other things and everyone is quite confused.

So far:
  1. I'm going to Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark this fall! I was named a Health Law Distinguished Scholar, which means I'll be in the health law program on a full-tuition scholarship (SHU Law is ranked 4th nationally for health law!).
  2. I'm moving into Hoboken and living with John Frega (also a SHU law student and Stevens '07). Will post pictures of our gorgeous new home after I move in.
  3. I'll be interning this summer in Falcarragh, Donegal, Ireland this summer for the Department of Health Services. More to come on that.
  4. RYLA 2008 is coming!
  5. Graduation is on May 22nd.
